Ship name generator for couples
Enter your name and your partner's and get a portmanteau couple name plus a few alternates โ the same blend that turns 'Brad + Angelina' into 'Brangelina'.
Searching for a couple name generator? Same tool. The blends double as Instagram couple names, wedding hashtags, and joint contact names โ and it's tuned for exactly 2 names, so every result stays short enough to say out loud.
How to make a ship name (how the blending works)
A ship name fuses the start of one name with the end of another. The generator splits each name at its natural midpoint, then tries five blend patterns โ your first half + their second half, the reverse, and overlaps that keep one name whole (that's how 'Tom + Zendaya' lands on 'Tomdaya').
Anything shorter than three letters or longer than fourteen gets dropped, duplicates are removed, and you're left with up to five candidates. Say each one out loud โ the best ship name is the one that sounds like it was always a word.
If nothing sings, try nicknames: 'Alexandra + Benjamin' is a mouthful, but 'Lexi + Ben' blends beautifully.
Ship name examples
Celebrity couples wrote the playbook: Brangelina (Brad + Angelina), Bennifer (Ben + Jennifer), Kimye (Kim + Kanye), Tomdaya (Tom + Zendaya).
Fandom ships run on the same fuel: Percabeth (Percy + Annabeth), NaruHina (Naruto + Hinata), Bubbline (Bubblegum + Marceline). Notice the pattern โ one clean piece of each name, joined where the sounds overlap.
Yours doesn't need to be famous to be good. 'Maya + Jordan' becomes Jorya, Madan, or Majordan โ generate a batch, then pick the one that makes you both grin.
Ship names for fandom & F/Os
Shipping a favorite character or a self-ship? Blend your name with theirs โ affectionate, never mocking โ and carry it onto a self-ship or F/O marriage certificate.
It works just as well for two characters or your OCs โ fanfic pairings, found-family duos, whichever crew you're rooting for. If the canon blend falls flat, feed it surnames or nicknames instead.
Ship names for friends, trios & squads
Best-friend ship names are absolutely a thing: blend your names for matching bios, a group-chat title, or a best-friend certificate.
Need a ship name for three or four people? Chain it: blend the first pair, then blend that result with the next name โ 'Sam + Riley' gives 'Samley', and 'Samley + Jo' gives 'Samjo'. Squad sorted.
Turn your ship name into a certificate
Found the one? Put your ship name on a beautiful certificate with both names, then download or share it. The same free-tool-to-keepsake loop as the love calculator.
Frequently asked questions
What is a ship name?
A ship name (or portmanteau) blends two people's names into one โ like 'Brangelina'. It's a fun way to label a couple or a fictional pairing you 'ship'.
How do you make a good ship name?
Combine the start of one name with the end of the other and try a few variations until one sounds smooth. Our generator does this instantly and offers alternates.
Is the ship name generator free?
Yes โ it's free, instant, and runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is stored.
Is this the same as a 'shipping name generator'?
Yes โ some people search for a shipping name generator, and it's the same idea: 'shipping' two people means rooting for them as a pair, and the shipping name is their blended name. (Nothing to do with mailing packages.)
Can I make a ship name for 3 or more people?
The generator blends two names at a time, but chaining works great for trios and squads: blend the first pair, then blend the result with the next name until everyone's in.
Does this generate pirate ship or fantasy vessel names?
No โ this is the couple kind of ship. It blends two people's names into a pairing name; it won't name boats, pirate ships, or fantasy fleets.
